Looking back to the end of the 2005 Formula One season, the Swiss Sauber Team had collected 20 world championship points. Only two years later, the newly formed BMW Sauber F1 Team has finished second in the manufacturers' classification with a total of 101 points. Naturally, Mario Theissen is thrilled.
"101 is the new magical number of the team now," the BMW Motorsport Director comments. "Maybe we will paint that number on the wall in Hinwil. Obviously, it is great to perform so well in the final race of such a strong season."
The BMW Sauber F1 Team managed to exceed all expectations in 2007 by collecting points in all 17 season races, achieving two podium finishes and establishing itself as the third force in the pinnacle of motorsports. The fact that the team from Munich and Hinwil was even able to cross the 100 point margin in Brazil is added motivation for the work in the forthcoming months
"The memory of this achievement will last through the whole winter," Theissen confirms. "I am really happy for the entire team."
